Give a sci-fi location a consistent material palette
Use a short visual rulebook to connect rooms and exterior scenes.
What you’ll make
Create related environment concepts that feel like parts of the same fictional place.
Step by step
- Define what the location is used for and how it was built. A research outpost and a luxury transport terminal should not automatically share the same surfaces. Choose three recurring materials and explain what each does.
- Set a lighting rule and a limited accent color. For example: cool overhead work lights, warm emergency strips, and orange equipment labels. Write where the accent is allowed so it remains useful instead of covering everything.
- Generate a simple corridor in ArtFlame.ai to test the rulebook. Once the materials read clearly, make a workshop and an exterior entrance using the same vocabulary. Change the room function while preserving the construction logic.
- Compare the concepts together. Look for consistent wall thickness, door shapes, wear patterns, and light fixtures. Keep the best image as a visual reference for later concepts when your chosen workflow supports references.
Example prompt
A maintenance corridor in a remote research outpost. Brushed aluminum frames, dark rubber floor panels, translucent ribbed-glass partitions. Cool overhead work lights, narrow warm emergency strips, orange markings only on service equipment. Practical exposed joints, moderate wear near doors, wide eye-level view.
Review your result
Could someone group the three images together without reading their captions? Check whether the same materials appear in useful places rather than as random decoration.
If the first attempt misses
If a new room feels like a different world, repeat the exact material and lighting rules and remove new style adjectives. If every room looks identical, vary its function and proportions while keeping the rules.
Your next exercise
Write a six-line visual rulebook: purpose, three materials, lighting, and accent use. Use it to brief one additional room without changing the rules.
